Giving Options:
Tribute Gifts:
Honor someone you want to recognize, celebrate a family physician who has helped you or a family member, memorialize a loved one who has died, or show appreciation to a caregiver. Tribute gifts are a thoughtful way to express appreciation to someone who has touched your life in one way or another, knowing that your contribution will continue to help others. You may wish to use a Tribute Gift to mark a birthday, anniversary, honor your family physicians, commend PAFP Foundation's Physician of the Year, or for any other occasion.
Names of those honored are published in the Foundation newsletter and a notification is promptly sent to the person or family in whose name your gift is given.
Annual Fund Gift:
The PAFP Foundation's Annual Fund supports our areas of greatest need. This type of gift is critical because it gives the Foundation the flexibility to direct funds toward urgent priorities. Gifts are welcomed throughout the year.
Planned Giving:
A planned, or deferred, gift - such as a bequest made through your will or a gift of life insurance - enables you to make a larger gift to PAFP/F than you may have thought possible, while providing financial security for you and your family. Planned gifts bring surprising additional benefits to donors, such as lower income taxes, income for life, elimination of capital gains tax, and a reduction in estate and inheritance taxes.
We will be happy to work with you and your legal or financial counsel to develop a plan that will benefit you and PAFP/F.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities:
Securities, including stocks and bonds, may be used to make a gift to PAFP/F, often with a minimal amount of out-of-pocket cost. You realize no capital gains tax if stock is transferred directly to the Foundation. The fair market value of the securities on the date of the gift determines the income tax deduction. Please contact the Foundation for specific instructions to donate your stock by wire delivery, by mail, or by hand delivery using a stock power form and medallion signature authorization.
Bequests:
Bequests are the most popular form of a planned gift to PAFP/F. A bequest is simply a gift of money or other assets set aside from one's estate to benefit a charity at one's death. The myth that only wealthy people can make a bequest is false. Individuals of modest means who feel they cannot make a gift during their lifetime can do so in their will. Such donors benefit directly by not depleting current income, reducing estate taxes, supporting a program of choice, and honoring a loved one.
Sample bequest language follows: I give, devise, and bequeath to PAFP Foundation located at Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians and Foundation, 96 Commerce Drive, Suite 180, Wyomissing, PA 19610, the sum of $_______ or ____ % of the residue of my estate (or otherwise describe the specific property or percentage.
Real Estate Gifts:
Gifts of long-term, appreciated real estate provide an immediate income tax deduction for the appraised fair market value and avoidance of potential capital gains tax.
