Family Medicine Pipeline Outreach
Our members are our strongest role models for the recruitment of future family physicians. From the ranks of your patients, local high school and college health careers interest groups, and your own alma mater, you might hold the key to unlocking those young adults' passion for a career in primary canre and Family Medicine.
Most students in the health careers pipeline don't understand what primary care really is, let alone what the future holds for the profession. They need to hear from advisors, the public, and directly from primary care physicians about the joys and challenges of primary care practice, what preparation and personality characteristics are needed, and learn the value proposition for primary care and family medicine.
We have many allies and resources to pull from to help amplify our message and provide material for presentations and outreach. This page is designed to be an evolving resource, welcoming contributions from our network of medical students, family medicine residents and attending and faculty physicians. If you wish to submit a presentation, report, graphic, or another resource to this page, please contact Molly Talley, PAFP Director of Resident & Student Initiatives.
