Urge lawmakers to protect frontline providers
The PAFP recently signed on to a coalition letter calling on Gov. Tom Wolf to sign an executive order granting immunity from medical liability for health care providers during the COVID-19 emergency. Join the PAFP in urging lawmakers to protect frontline providers from medical liability through our latest Speak Out campaign. For more information about how your Academy is working for you during this challenging time, view the latest message from PAFP President Tracey Conti, MD on our COVID-19 Resource Center.
Earlier this week, Gov. Tom Wolf vetoed legislation that would have provided for guidance and reimbursement for telemedicine services. Senate Bill 857 was approved by the Pennsylvania General Assembly with a provision that would have prohibited health care providers from prescribing oral abortion medication virtually. In the governor's veto message, he noted that the bill as amended by the House "arbitrarily restricts the use of telemedicine for certain doctor-patient interactions" and "interferes with women's health care and the crucial decision-making between patients and their physicians."
