PAFP urges residency expansion continuation
|
|
Since 2014, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has partnered with the PAFP in establishing an innovative three-year project designed to increase access to primary care physicians in Pennsylvania’s underserved rural and urban areas by expanding nine family medicine residency training positions. PAFP President Dr. Rob Rodak and the current residency program directors involved have written to Gov. Tom Wolf appealing to his administration to renew and expand the program in 2017. President Obama signs 21st Century Cures Act
|
Lauding the bipartisanship that made it possible, President Barack Obama has signed the 21st Century Cures Act into law. The Washington Post reports the bill includes funds for biomedical research and opioid abuse prevention; it will also overhaul federal mental health care policy and expedite experimental treatments.
