Instructions and Information for Presenters

Guidelines for Abstract Submission
All submissions are made via the online registration form for the PAFP Live CME Conference. When prompted, researchers will enter information related to their project. Please complete all of these fields.

Consult guidelines for your project category for abstract structure standards and scoring rubric.

The submission form for abstracts limits the length to 300 words. Make sure you’ve thoroughly edited and proofread your abstract prior to pasting in the text box.

Do not use all caps.
Avoid the use of medical jargon and excessive reliance on abbreviations.
Do select your words carefully – your selection is based on this information!
Take care when composing your title. Be descriptive, compelling.
Make the case for your project – why is it important?
Read other abstracts.
Use an active voice in present tense for the statement of the question (hypothesis) and conclusion.
Proof your work – and have others join in this process.
Read the instructions and follow them.

Guidelines for Presentations
PAFP Judging rubric for presentations

Presentations are allotted 20-minute time slots; 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 for Q&A. Moderator judges in each presentation room will ensure presenters stay on schedule.

Cash awards of $300 for Best Research Presentation will be granted in each category: Faculty/Fellow/Physician, Resident, Student, and Best Overall.

Presenters will be expected to submit their PowerPoint presentations to via email prior to Research Day on or before Friday, March 10, 2017 (no exceptions). There is no time on site to make slide updates or to load presentations to the conference laptop. Presenters who do not meet this deadline will not be able to present.

Guidelines for Posters: Size limit: 2' X 4'
Poster presentations will be displayed in the conference refreshment break area, where authors are expected to be available during the designated poster presentation time periods to answer questions about their projects. Posters must not exceed 2'X4' in size. Two posters will be displayed on each side of the poster display boards. PAFP will provide thumb tacks. Recognition will be granted for first place poster in the following categories: research, quality improvement project, case study, community project.
