PAFP, Others United against Nurse Practitioner Independence
While the bills have yet to be introduced, co-sponsorship memos are being circulated by State Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford) and Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland) that would eliminate collaborative agreements in Pennsylvania between physicians and nurse practitioners (NPs). Meanwhile, the PAFP, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Pennsylvania chapters of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and other physician associations and specialties stand united against the to-be-introduced legislation.

Gov. Tom Wolf Announces Medicaid Expansion Plan
Gov. Tom Wolf says he has identified complications with the launch of Healthy PA, former Gov. Tom Corbett’s plan for Medicaid expansion. In an attempt to alleviate confusion, remove unnecessary red tape, and streamline the system, Wolf announced Pennsylvania will be transitioning to a simplified Medicaid expansion plan. The Dept. of Human Services (DHS) has been tasked with contacting the federal government withdrawing federal consideration of the "Healthy" option, and work has begun making changes to the eligibility system. Transitions will occur over a long period of time to keep individuals informed and continually covered.
