PAFP: Reconsider suspending child immunization requirements
Last week, the PAFP sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf and Dept. of Health Secretary
Rachel Levine, MD expressing our concerns with a recent order to temporarily suspend regulatory requirements for children’s immunizations.
Under the order, the regulations are suspended for two months after the start of the school year. Among other concerns, the PAFP cited the pending flu season and potential outbreak of other vaccine-preventable infectious diseases
amid the COVID-19 pandemic as reasons to reconsider suspending current regulations. We encourage all PAFP members to reach out to your school-age patients to ensure they are up to date on their immunizations before the start of
the school year.
Speak out to expand Pennsylvania's primary care physician workforce
Call or email your state representative TODAY and ask them to cosponsor and support House Resolution 625, which would direct a study on the efforts of the state’s medical schools to promote primary care and accurately report the number of students who ultimately enter primary care. The
PAFP is committed to increasing the number of Pennsylvania’s medical school graduates who choose to practice family medicine over the course of the next decade.
