New leaders elected in Pa. House; Speak Out on liability protections
Following last week’s resignation of former Speaker of the House Mike Turzai to join the private sector, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives earlier this week overwhelming elected former House Majority Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) to the chamber’s top position. Cutler served as House Majority Leader since 2018 before rising to Speaker. Following his election, the House Republican Caucus voted Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre), former Majority Whip, as House Majority Leader and Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion) as Majority Whip.
The Pennsylvania General Assembly needs to hear from you before they adjourn for the summer. The legislature may be considering a bill to provide important liability protections for health care providers and facilities, PPE manufacturers, and small businesses. Speak Out and
tell your state Representative and Senator to support liability protections for the health care and business communities TODAY.

Important PAFP CME schedule changes; #PAFPCME photo contest
Please note the following changes to PAFP’s education events: September’s Adventures in Family Medicine Conference at Camelback has been canceled. The Pittsburgh CME Conference, Nov. 13-15 at the Westin in Pittsburgh, will take place as scheduled. To meet all safety protocols, in-person registrations will be limited and there will also be a virtual component with this event. Watch your email for important information soon. The PAFP’s Annual Business Meeting, CME, and Research Day is scheduled in person for March 11-14 in Valley Forge at the Crowne Plaza King of Prussia. The Alaska CME Cruise, July 13-23, 2021, has been postponed until a later date. Next summer, the PAFP will offer a summer CME program scheduled for June in Cape May, N.J.
Nearly four months have gone by since the PAFP’s last CME event, and we miss you all greatly! That is why we want you to show us your favorite #PAFPCME photo. Maybe it is a screenshot you grabbed of a Snapchat you received or your team participating in a #PAFPCME
webinar. We want you to share your favorite #PAFPCME photo – a picture of a framed photo counts! Post your photo on
Facebook, tag the PAFP or a staff member along with
#PAFPFav
by June 30. Starting July 6, we will host online voting for two weeks for the best #PAFPCME photo. The winner receives a pass for one year of PAFP CME registration fees.
