PAFP reviews proposed electronic prescribing regulations
On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the PAFP had the opportunity to review proposed regulations for Act 96 of 2018, which amends the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act. Act 96 provides for electronic prescribing of scheduled drugs and allows for exceptions under certain circumstances. PAFP Government and Practice Advocacy Committee Vice Chair Dr. Perry Meadows, alongside the PAFP team, provided feedback on the proposed regulations to the state Department of Health during an in-person session ahead of the regulations being made public. PAFP members will have an opportunity to provide additional feedback during a public comment period before the regulations are promulgated. The PAFP will alert members once the proposed regulations are made public.
