State legislature returns to session
The state legislature returns to session next week and the PAFP anticipates activity on issues that impact our members. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the House Human Services Committee will hold a hearing on Senate Bill 675 – legislation that would restrict the prescribing of Suboxone and place additional requirements on providers. PAFP President Mary Stock Keister, MD will submit testimony expressing our concerns with limiting access to this life-saving medication.
Meanwhile, Sen. Michele Brooks is expected to introduce legislation that would standardize and streamline the insurer physician credentialing process. The legislation would closely mirror House Bill 533, which passed the House Health Committee in September and awaits consideration in the House of Representatives this month. The PAFP will continue to advocate for swift movement of this important reform in both chambers of the General Assembly.
