Highmark, UPMC, AG Shapiro head to court
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is to hear arguments on Thursday, May 16 in the case of extending the landmark Highmark/UPMC consent decree issued five years ago that granted certain patients access to both networks/insurers. Further, the situation has raised state legislative questions around provider networks not-for-profit status, and ensuring competitive markets without monopolies. The consent decree expires June 30.
