Pa. Senate seeks delay in Court's venue rules
State Senator Lisa Baker, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, introduced Senate Resolution (SR) 20 responding to wide spread concerns about a proposed rules change regarding medical liability venue. SR 20, which passed 32-17 on Tuesday, directs the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (LBFC) to conduct an analysis of the impact of the current venue rule that will aid the State Supreme Court's Civil Rules Procedural Committee as they consider whether to change this rule. PAFP’s President David O’Gurek, MD issued a statement saying “The PAFP commends Senator Lisa Baker for Senate Resolution 20 and extends its sincere thanks to the Pennsylvania Senate for standing for Pennsylvania physicians today.”
