PAFP to receive Leadership in State Government Advocacy Award
Susan Fidler MD, Chair of the PAFP Government and Practice Advocacy Committee, will be accepting the award on behalf of PAFP next Friday at the AAFP Annual State Legislative Conference. PAFP is being recognized for its advocacy work on the issue of prior authorization reform. Through PAFP members overwhelming response to a survey, the results have aided in advancing the issue (House Bill 1293) and putting family medicine at the table. “This is an important issue to our members and the patients we serve and we’ll continue to push for practical reforms” said Dr. Fidler.

Family physicians have huge impact on Pa. economy
Family physicians provide tremendous economic benefits to Pennsylvania, according to a recent study. The 2018 AMA Economic Impact Study found family medicine contributed $9.4 billion in direct and indirect economic output and generated 57,276 direct and indirect jobs. All Pennsylvania physicians combined accounted for more than 10 percent of the state’s economic output.
