PAFP working on prior authorization
After an overwhelming response from PAFP members on prior authorization, the PAFP has increased its lobbying efforts with lawmakers and key legislative staff discussing House Bill 1293 (Rep. Marguerite Quinn-Bucks). Thus week, the PAFP teamed up with Theodore J. Demetriou II, DO and PAFP past-president Dennis L. Gingrich, MD of the Penn State Hershey Medical Group - Fishburn Road. Drs. Demetriou and Gingrich, flanked by critical staff, hosted a PAFP fact-finding session on the problems with House Insurance Committee staff. Members are strongly encouraged to contact their state senator and representative about the issue and its impact on patient care.

Pa. medical marijuana providers increase as supply stagnates
Pennsylvania's 7,000 approved medical marijuana patients are having a hard time accessing the treatment, as Billy Penn reports there are only nine operational dispensaries and two market-ready medical marijuana producers. The number of physicians who are able to recommend cannabis treatments is also increasing; the Pa. Dept. of Health lists more than 600 approved providers.
