Pa. Gov. Wolf proposed 2018-19 budget
Gov. Tom Wolf unveiled a $33.2 billion state general fund budget for fiscal year 2018-19 on Tuesday, a $1.2 billion (3.7 percent) increase in state spending from the current fiscal year. The proposal merges the budgets of the individual departments of Health and Human Services, in concert with another planned legislative attempt to merge agencies. The PAFP was pleased the proposal included monies in PHEAA for primary health care, previously known as the “primary care practitioner line item” at $4.5 million; however, we will push the legislature to grant administrative power of those funds to the Health Dept.

The Morning Call reports more than 47,000 cases have been diagnosed in the Commonwealth. Although the flu vaccine is a poor match for the dominant H3N2 strain of the virus, getting the flu shot is still the very best way for patients to protect themselves.
