PAFP Board Supports Restrictive Covenant Ban, Nursing Mothers Legislation
The PAFP’s Government and Practice Advocacy Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Sue Fidler and Vice Chairs Dr. Manasa Irwin and Dr. Perry Meadows, advanced two motions adopted by the PAFP Board of Directors on March 1 in Philadelphia. House Bill 1685, which provides for sanitary workplace accommodations for nursing mothers, and House Bill 346 that prohibits restrictive covenants in health care employee contracts were both adopted by the PAFP Board, now under the leadership of newly installed President Dr. David O’Gurek. The PAFP will now advocate for both items.

Philadelphia CME Recap & Looking Ahead
PAFP extends a big thank you to all the attendees and sponsors that helped make this weekend’s CME event a success in Philadelphia. Attendees will receive a separate email later this week with the master collection of available handouts from the presentations. PAFP’s next CME event, the 2nd Annual Procedures in Clinical Dermatology will be held September 6th (partial day) and 7th at the Penn Stater Conference Center in State College. PAFP’s November meeting will be at Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington, PA, November 2–4. Watch your inbox and PAFP’s website for additional information on both programs.

Pennsylvania's elderly hit especially hard by this season's flu
As the number of flu cases in Pennsylvania begins to decline, statistics regarding this flu season are becoming available. The latest numbers show the vulnerability of the elderly when faced with flu infection. As reported by The Morning Call, the overwhelming percentage of flu-related deaths in Pennsylvania involve residents 50 and older.
