Pennsylvania state legislature returns
Both the state House and Senate returned to Harrisburg on Jan. 22. On Tuesday, Feb. 6, Gov. Tom Wolf will present his proposed 2018-19 state budget that will be followed by budget hearings in both chambers. The PAFP will focus on advancing prior authorization reform, credentialing reform, POLST legislation, and direct primary care (DPC) authorization bills while opposing CRNP independence. The PAFP will also seek to restore funding of the primary care practitioner line item to continue the expansion of family medicine residency slots.

Philly officials greenlight safe injection sites
Philadelphia is poised to become the first city in the United States to establish safe injection sites. Philly.com reports these sites will be medically supervised facilities where people can inject drugs like heroin, be revived if they overdose, then be helped into treatment. The city itself will not operate the sites.

FMEC invites you to Ohio DPC ‘Unsummit’ VI
The Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC) would like to event PAFP members to its Ohio DPC “Unsummit” VI, Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Dublin Integrated Education Center, Ohio University at Dublin in Dublin, Ohio. This one-day event includes content dedicated to the direct primary care (DPC) community in Ohio and surrounding states, including physicians, NPs and PAs, with content and discount registration rates for residents and students.
