PAFP applauds House action on DPC
PAFP President Dr. Ed Zurad praised the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for its unanimous support of House Bill (HB) 1739, sponsored by House Health Committee Chairman Matt Baker. “We thank Chairman Baker for his leadership and members on both sides of the aisle,” he said. “The PAFP looks forward to working with the Senate and other stakeholders.” HB 1739 would give patients and doctors the right to directly contract for care. It will improve access to direct primary care, or DPC, by recognizing these arrangements and defining them as outside the scope of state insurance regulations.

'Vaccines 4 Teens' program coming to Pennsylvania
Teen vaccination rates are low across the country. How does Pennsylvania compare? While state rates for CDC-recommended vaccinations for teens were above national averages in 2015, only 48 percent of adolescent girls and 38 percent of adolescent boys completed the HPV vaccine series; less than 50 percent of adolescents 13-17 were vaccinated against flu. To help improve these rates, the PAFP has been awarded an AAFP grant to bring the Highlight on VACCINATIONS 4 TEENS program to members.
