DPC legislation coming to Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania is set to join the growing number of states that have addressed legislative hurdles to allow direct primary care (DPC) to evolve free of regulatory interference. With high deductibles and uncertainty at the national level, many primary care patients and physicians are exploring all options. While only 3 percent of AAFP members now practice in a DPC setting, its growth is being seen nationwide. Last week, House Health Committee Chairman Matt Baker (R-Tioga) issued a co-sponsorship memo announcing his intention to introduce DPC legislation in the House. The PAFP Board of Directors voted to support such legislation last year.
