Government Affairs and Practice Advocacy
Complex state budget takes center stage
Facing at least a $2 billion deficit, it is crunch time for the General Assembly. The House of Representatives in April sent a $31.5 billion dollar spending plan to the Senate. The Senate has concluded budget hearings and public reviews on creating a super-agency to envelop all health and human services departments. Gov. Wolf has proposed sweeping cuts and a $1 billion tax package, mostly met with criticism from the Republican-controlled legislature. The PAFP will continue its advocacy on a broad range of bills as budget season at the Capitol can often bring movement on non-budgetary items.
