Your voice counts - get out and vote on Nov. 8
While the focus is on the top of the ticket, Pennsylvanians have important state races to decide. All 203 seats of the state House of Representatives and half of the state Senate are up for election on Nov. 8. These state officials are increasingly more important on health care issues in nearly every aspect. During the 2015-16 session of the General Assembly, nearly 1,000 bills and resolutions were introduced involving health care in some way. So while everyone is looking up-ballot, take some time to know those who are running to work in the trenches of our House and Senate.

More kids are getting sick and dying from opioid poisonings
As opioid prescriptions have soared over the last few years, children's increased access has led to tragedy. Children across the United States are being poisoned by opioids; according to NBC News, the number of kids admitted to the emergency room for a drug overdose more than doubled between 1997 and 2012, with the greatest increase over time among the youngest children, ages 1 to 4.
