Government Affairs and Practice Advocacy
6 days left in Pa. 2015-16 legislative session
Both the House and Senate return for six more days starting Oct. 17 and ending Oct. 26, after which they essentially adjourn the 2015-16 session. After the 26th, with no regular session days scheduled afterwards, any bill having not passed both chambers "dies" and does not become law this year. Log on to PAFP Connect and join the Government and Practice Advocacy Committee for the latest news on PAFP’s government affairs activity.

Pa. doctors are unsure of medical marijuana
Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program continues its slow rollout, and The Pittsburgh-Post Gazette reports it's giving some doctors pause. Although physicians are sympathetic to its appeal – particularly amid the public health crisis of the statewide and national opioid epidemic, lack of scientific evidence and the drug's Schedule I classification could mean few doctors will prescribe it to patients. The PAFP will have more information on the state’s medical marijuana program as it becomes available in the coming months.
