Abortion legislation would change gestational age threshold
|
|
House Republican Deputy Whip Kathy Rapp has introduced legislation that would amend the Abortion Control Act and change the legal gestation age threshold from 24 to 20 weeks. House Bill 1948 has more than 100 co-sponsors and has been assigned to the House Health Committee. Chairman Baker has indicated he will bring the bill for a vote in the committee, while Gov. Tom Wolf has vowed to veto the measure should it reach his desk.

White House: Climate change will damage public health
|
From the spreading of illnesses to the decreased nutritional content of food, a new White House report says that climate change will contribute to myriad public health issues over the coming decades. Time reports the Obama administration is pressing for "significant global action" in order to stem the effects of human-made climate change.

The federal government is planning to put an end to the meaningful use program - at least in its current form. According to Medical Economics, the government is developing new programs that focus less on how physicians use electronic health records (EHR) systems and more on their patients' health outcomes.
