Important Reminder for MA Providers
In accordance with the federally mandated changes resulting from the ACA, the Dept. of Human Services must revalidate all Medical Assistance providers at least every five years; therefore, all providers who enrolled on or before March 25, 2011 must revalidate their enrollment information no later than March 24, 2016. This may be accomplished by completing a new enrollment application. Providers who enrolled after March 25, 2011 should check their revalidation date here.

CMS Meaningful Use Final Rule 2015 On the Way
Be on the lookout for news on the CMS Meaningful Use Final Rule 2015 and significant changes to Stage 1 and Stage 2 of Meaningful Use. The public comment period for the proposed rule ended on June 14, and an announcement on the final rule should be on the way. This final rule, if affirmed, could mean changes to several parts of the program including the reporting period, patient engagement, electronic messaging, and a move toward only a "core" set of measures without any menu options.

Gov. Wolf Signs Copayment Protection Bill Into Law
Senate Bill 487, sponsored by Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R-Burks), has been signed into law by Gov. Tom Wolf. The measure prohibits health insurance policies from charging a consumer more than one copayment per visit. While many insurers have abandoned the practice of multiple copayments for a rehabilitation visit, even when multiple services were provided, the law will established penalties for violations by insurers.
