Alert: Nurse Practitioners Continue to Push for Independence
The Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners is again seeking to end collaborative agreements through legislation known as the Modernization of the Professional Nursing Law. The PAFP, Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED), Pa. Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (PA-AAP), American College of Physicians Pennsylvania Chapter (ACP: Pennsylvania), and the Pennsylvania American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (PA ACOG) all oppose. Your voice matters. Oppose the House Bill here and the Senate Bill here through the AAFP's Speak Out tool and help protect patient safety.

Alert: Re-Enrollment, Re-Validation Required for MA Providers
March 23, 2016 is an important deadline for all Medical Assistance (MA) providers. A fully completed Pennsylvania PROMISe Provider Enrollment Application, along with any required additional documentation or information, must be completed, received, and reviewed by this deadline to avoid claim rejections and expiration of provider enrollment. This applies to all provider types for all current service locations. Please allow at least 60-90 days for application processing and screening. For more information and re-validation procedures, review the MA Bulletin 99-14-06.

New Data Diamond Collection Capabilities Developed
The PAFP’s Data Diamond data collection system recently developed the capability to collect practice information on specialties, location, demographics, practice volume, workflow, and technology and data use. This information is gathered through the Practice Profile and Technology Information Form and allows for practice type identification and improved analytical practice comparison, taking into account various differences between practices and providing a robust context for analysis and review. The Data Diamond team is now in the process of collecting data for the various system practices. Once accomplished, it will open the door to a greater variety and power of analytical review.
