PAFP to Testify on Organ Donation
|
|
Doug Spotts, MD, past president and current board chair of PAFP, will testify before the House Republican Policy Committee as it launches a series of hearings on organ donation on Thursday, April 9. Chairman Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre) invited PAFP to testify in order for the Committee to better understand the role primary care physicians play in discussing organ donation along with other end-of-life directives. The Committee intends to review educational, clinical, and law enforcement issues surrounding organ donation.

Practice Manager Workshops Coming

The Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians has scheduled 2015 Practice Manager Workshops for member practice managers and key staff. Spring sessions with be held the week of April 27, 2015 in State College, Pittsburgh, and Indiana. Not only will timely information on current practice management topics be shared, you will also have an opportunity to network with fellow practice managers in your area. Workshops take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with breakfast served. Attendance and parking are free. Registration is now open! Details for fall sessions will follow at a later date.

Proposed Rule Issued for Stage 3 of Meaningful Use
|
On March 20, 2015, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule for the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs - Stage 3; the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) also announced proposed 2015 Edition certification criteria for health information technology products. The focus of both rules is interoperability of data and to make the EHR Incentive Programs more flexible. Click here for more.
