A message from PAFP President Tracey Conti, MD on coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear PAFP members,
Like you, we at the PAFP have been closely monitoring the data, information and guidance regarding COVID-19. Despite the anticipated continued spread of this virus throughout the Commonwealth and beyond, I am confident in our desire and willingness as clinicians to provide our patients with competent and compassionate care and to direct them to reliable and appropriate health resource information. With that said, I also want to encourage all of us to be mindful of self-care and attentive to the health and safety needs of our family members, particularly those in our households.
The AAFP is providing guidance regarding management of patients who present to the office with suspected COVID-19 infection, answering patient questions, and reducing further spread. Those resources including payment information, telehealth updates, office preparedness updates and more, all of which can be found by clicking here.
We understand that family physicians are on the front lines of this rapidly evolving public health emergency. The PAFP along with the AAFP will continue to be your voice to ensure that federal, state, and local jurisdictions understand the vital role that we all play and how critically important it is for us have access to timely information and appropriate resources. With the right information and tools, we are confident that we can care for our communities and our families, while also protecting our personal health and safety.
We will continue to keep you connected to updates as this pandemic continues. In the meantime, stay safe and continue on through this global health challenge, knowing that the work that you do is not in vain.
In addition, the AAFP has decided that it is necessary to cancel several upcoming events, including the Annual Leadership Conference and National Conference of Constituency Leaders (ACLF/NCCL) in Kansas City. For more information about these events, please click here.
Sincerely,
Tracey Conti, MD
