Highlight on Vaccinations 4 Teens
|
The PAFP is partnering with the American Academy of Family Physicians on Highlight on VACCINATIONS 4 TEENS, a project to increase teen vaccination rates. The project specifically focuses on the four vaccinations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Tdap, HPV, flu, and meningitis.
Teen vaccination rates are low across the country. How does Pennsylvania compare? While state rates for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-recommended vaccinations for teens were above national averages in 2015, only 48 percent of adolescent girls and 38 percent of adolescent boys completed the HPV vaccine series; less than 50 percent of adolescents 13-17 were vaccinated against flu.
To help improve these rates, the PAFP has been awarded an AAFP grant to bring the Highlight on VACCINATIONS 4 TEENS program to members. Please click here for a brief, timely article on this project.
